Q1:  How come I can't retrieve my attachments in Outlook or Outlook Express?
Q2:  I am not able to send and receive email?
Q3:  I keep getting the Error Message: The Page Cannot Be Displayed in Internet Explorer?
Q4:  How can I filter spam and junk mail in Horde with SPAM-X options?
Q5:  How do I configure Outlook Express to receive my email?

A1:  Outlook XP and Outlook Express blocks/hides attachments that can be harmful to your computer,
these types of files include *.exe, *.vbs, *.js and *.html, *.reg and other files that I can't recall from the top of my head. They did this b/c lots of careless users would open attachments that was a virus (compiled into exe files) or had malicious scripts that could spread to other users via Outlook and your contacts/address book. One way around this if you really need these types of files is to revert back to the old non SR1 Outlook version OR have your friends / co-workers rename a file w/ a *.txt extension, such as openme.exe.txt and Outlook will allow the attachment to be sent/received.  This new feature in Outlook will also block out the attachments containing file extensions listed above for messages that were received by previous versions of Outlook.

Outlook Express:
Open Outlook Express.
Click Tools, click Options, click Security tab.
Uncheck "Do not allow attachments..."

Outlook:
Click this Microsoft link and follow the steps.  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318515/en-us

A2:  Check to see if you can access internet web pages.  Then check your pop and smtp settings
Click here to see how to set up email accounts in outlook 2002.  http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;287532

Follow these steps to set up email accounts in outlook express.
You will need the following information from your Internet service provider (ISP) or local area network (LAN) administrator:  For e-mail accounts, you'll need to know the type of e-mail server you use (POP3, IMAP, or HTTP), your account name and password, the name of the incoming e-mail server and, for POP3 and IMAP, the name of an outgoing e-mail server.
For a newsgroup account, you'll need to know the name of the news server you want to connect to and, if required, your account name and password.
On the Tools menu, click Accounts.
In the Internet Accounts dialog box, click Add.
Select either Mail or News to open the Internet Connection Wizard, and then follow the instructions to establish a connection with an e-mail or news server.

A3:  Try rebooting your computer and/or router.  Try another web site address.  Otherwise go to the following link and follow the steps.  http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;q241344

A4:  All POP email accounts that are hosted with Point-N-Click are flagged with SpamAssassin which marks email headers that can be used to filter out unwanted email.  If you feel you are getting too much junk email or spam in your inbox please follow these steps.  Please note that SpamAssassin is not a miracle cure to identifying 100%  of your email.  It however very effective at identifying unwanted email.

1. log into your web mail account.  http://mail.yourdomain.com (fill in "yourdomain" with your website domain name)
        A. Use your whole email address and password.  (if you don't know this send an email to webadmin@pointnclickpcs.com)
        B. On the next screen select the Horde Icon
                            horde-color.gif
        C. Then on the next screen select your language and hit enter

D: Then you'll see this screen

2. Click the "+" before the word mail on the left hand men
3. Then click on the filter option on the left hand menu
4. Then click the new rule button

5. On the horde new filter rule screen seen below

6. Then fill in the rule name - ex. SPAM
7. Select the criteria for the filter (all of the following or any of the following)
8. Then define the filter option with the drop down boxes (I recommend just filling in the one filter at a time like shown here)
X-Spam filter options for removing flagged spam are:
            A.   X-Spam-Level - Contains - * (the number of *'s means the less restrictive because the filter would have to find 5 occurrences of spam if *****  were used in the filter) - Using this filter with one * is my preference.
            B.   X-Spam-Score - Contains - +++++++ (the higher the number of plus signs, max of 40, the more likely the email is spam but less restrictive) - I don't recommend using this unless with thorough testing and research has been done first.
            C.   X-Spam-Status - Contains - either Yes or No or * (If yes is selected it assumes default of 5 ******'s) - The option of Yes has been know to mark good emails as spam.

Other filter options are also available by choosing other options in the matches drop down box.
9. The next step is to define the "Do This" option.  I recommend always selecting the option to move to a new folder called SPAM first (this needs to be created).  Make sure you have tested the rule before setting it to "delete message completely" which is ideal if you want to permanently delete unwanted email.
10. Then you can select the Save button.
11. Then you can select the Apply Filters button to activate the filters on the messages already in the Inbox folder.

Note: Custom Email filtering support is not included with the Point-N-Click web hosting plans.  Additional support is available for an additional fee.  Any emails deleted by filter rules cannot be restored!  The implementation of desktop filtering options for additional email filtering is recommended.
