Tip of the Month
Have you ever wondered why one day your computer works and the next day it isn’t. You know that you didn’t do anything different and you didn’t install anything. You don’t know what to do in order to get your system working again. Microsoft Windows XP has a tool that not many people know about and it is called “System Restore”. This tool will allow you to undo changes and fix problems in minutes. It can be found by clicking the windows start button, then

accessories, then system tools, then system restore. This tool will allow you to take a snapshot of your system and then restore it back to that date in time if needed. This tool is very easy to use because there is basically only two functions. One to create an image and save it and the other is to restore the image. Here is my advice. Create an image when your system is running good or just after you have just made a change to your computer. Then if something goes wrong you can restore back to that date in time by just picking from a calendar in this tool. The computer will reboot and your computer will roll back to that date removing any changing that might because your problem. With this tool you can create as many images or restore points as you want however if you restore to a date like June 1st then any restore points that were created after that date will be removed. My advice is always restore from the newest date and work backwards when trying to solve a problem. One thing to note is this will not affect your personal files like your email, word documents or even accounting. It will only affect your windows and applications. Give it a try today and create your first image.
